N175 Gypsy Queen Overview

N175 Myers.jpg

Similar to the N172 Old Judge set, Goodwin’s Gypsy Queen N175 cards have some uncertainty surrounding the checklist. More than 100 cards are known but it is uncertain if new discoveries will still be made.

Fronts of the cards boast the Gypsy Queen brand name at the top and Goodwin and Company is located at the bottom. In the middle is a player image in sepia tone and backs are completely blank as the N172 Old Judge cards.

The ‘Gypsy Queen’ at the top of the cards is part of the appeal with this issue. It is written in a strange, decorative font that arches over the player picture.

A larger, rarer version of the cards exists as well. It is unknown if these were packaged with other products or some sort of premium offered by the company, similar to the N173 Old Judge cards, which were larger, cabinet card versions of the popular N172 set that collectors could receive in exchange for coupons. The larger Gypsy Queen cards are very scarce and not many have been found to date.

As with the Old Judge cards, a premium is placed on those with clear, crisp images.
