N43 Allen & Ginter Overview

The 1888 N43 set is essentially a jumbo issue of Allen & Ginter’s N29 set. The N43 cards featured an image of each player’s N29 card on a large card slightly bigger than 3″ wide by nearly 3″ tall. In addition to the picture of the N29 card, the N43 cards featured background artwork of the sport in question on the front.

Backs were similar to the N29 cards as well, including a blown up checklist.

Six baseball players are present, including the popular Buck Ewing card. As was the case with the N29 cards, the baseball cards remain the most popular with collectors. The N43 set includes the same checklist as the N29 cards.

While a jumbo set was created for N29, no such issue was produced for the preceding N28 Allen & Ginter cards.
