1939 Kimball Automobile Club Trois-Rivieres Overview

1939 Kimball Trois-RivieresThis scarce black and white issue was sponsored by the Kimball Automobile Club. The set features members of the 1939 Trois-Rivieres baseball team. The team was a Canadian squad (hence the English and French on the card) that played independently until joining the Quebec Provincial League in 1940.

The issue features 18 black and white photo cards. ‘Club Trois-Rivieres ’39’ was at the top to denote the team and year. The player’s name was at the bottom along with the Kimball Automobile Ltee name listing them as the sponsor. Backs of the cards are blank.

No incredibly notable players are included in the set. A Pepper Martin is included but it is not the same Pepper Martin that starred with the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1930s and 1940s. That is evident because that Martin had a first name of Johnny while the one in this set is named Paul.
