1944 Venezuela Serie Mundial de Base Ball Amateur Stamps Overview
These stamps were printed to celebrate the 7th Annual Venezuelan Amateur Baseball World Series. The formal Spanish name, the “Serie Mundial de Base Ball Amateur” is printed on these but that roughly translates to the aforementioned name in English. These are also sometimes simply known as the Venezuela Baseball Stamps.
Each stamp picture is the same, featuring a batter and a catcher. However, a total of nine different stamps were printed in an assortment of colors. Green is repeated, although, one is a light green and the other, a dark green.
The stamps are perforated and also include the word ‘Aereo’ (translates to ‘Aerial’ in English’) printed in red ink along the curved border of the image.
Asking prices for these seem to be a bit higher than for other stamps. But with some patience, a full set can be purchased for about $40 or less.
It should be noted that some rarer versions of the stamps are also known without perforated edges and without the Aereo word. Here is an example of those, which sold at auction for $140 (for an uncut sheet of four stamps).
