This issue featured a total of 100 cards and was distributed by international tobacco company Godfrey Phillips. The cards were issued for Godfrey Phillips’ B.D.V. Cigarettes brand and that name adorns the cards at the top.

With the player’s name in the box at the bottom, some pre-war baseball collectors may compare the design loosely to that of the 1922 American Caramel (E122) set. And while not similar in design, there are of course similarities to Godfrey Phillips’ 1932 set a year earlier that was another multi-sport set featuring Australian athletes.

Titled Who’s Who in Australian Sport, it features just that – cards of Australian athletes. Many sports are included in the set, though the most popular cards are generally those depicting golf, tennis, and boxing. A wrestler, Billy Meske, is also featured (though his name is misspelled as Meeske).

Most names will not be familiar to American collectors but a few might be, such as cricket star Donald Bradman and tennis player Gerald Patterson.

Cards are printed in color with the athlete’s name at the bottom. They are distinctive as they uniquely are double-sided, featuring a second athlete on the back.

Rarely seen in the U.S., these are mostly offered from international sellers.
