1909 American National Baseball Game Cards Overview

American National GameThese game cards make up the American National Baseball Game. The set was a boxed issue where a simulated baseball game was played using actions printed on the cards.

The set does not include specific players or any real pictures. One side of the cards feature actions, which were used to dictate the game play. One participant would represent one team while another would be the opponent. Players would ‘play’ cards to determine the outcome of a game. Some cartoon drawings of equipment were added to the cards.

The backs of the cards (shown here) were decorative featuring a cartoon baseball scene with baseballs in the corners.

Because the cards don’t feature specific players, value for these cards tends to be relatively low. But at over 100 years old, the cards are still desired by pre-war collectors.

1909 American National Baseball Game Cards Checklist
