1889 G76 Goodwin Baseball Album Banner Overview
The 1889 A35 Goodwin Round Album includes 12 pages featuring baseball players. Some of the players have individual pictures of the players while others feature several. The album was available to consumers that returned 75 certificates available in Goodwin’s packages of their Old Judge and Dogs Head cigarette products.
The G76 banners were an advertisement of sorts that were likely hung in shops selling the cigarettes (Old Judge and Dogs Head) that included the offer for the album. Printed on thin paper, they are difficult to find at all – let alone in good condition.
The posters feature a layout of four of the 12 album pages that were found in the set. The banners had a colorful background background with four of the pages of the players. Two were individuals and two were collages of players.
Only a handful of these have been found to date and they always sell for big money, like this one that was auctioned for over $100,000 in 2010.
