1938 Central American and Caribbean Games Stamps (Panama) Overview
The fourth Central American and Caribbean Games were held in 1938 and this was a commemorative stamps set showcasing some of the sports.
The games included a total of 21 different sports and this stamp issue included five of them. Some of the most popular ones were understandably chosen and two of the four major American sports, baseball and basketball, are included.
The stamps are in color but each one includes only a single color of ink with various shades. That doesn’t detract from the high-quality images, however. The five stamps all have different denominations with, ironically, the basketball and baseball being worth the least.
Since these were not merely collectible stamps and actually were used as postage, you will sometimes find used examples. Those are worth less than the unused stamps, obviously.
These stamps were issued in Panama, which was the host of the games in that year.
