1913 Oakland Oaks Overview
The 1913 Oakland Oaks team was captured on a trading card set. Unfortunately, many questions about the issue have arisen.
The manufacturer isn’t known nor is the mode of distribution. It has been speculated in recent years that the set could have been produced by Cardinet Candy but that’s never been confirmed. Much of the evidence, while promising, seems somewhat speculative and unconvincing in terms of being able to make a definitive link.
The cards feature a player picture in a sepia tone with only his last name and the ‘Oakland’ name printed on the bottom. The backs are blank.
The Oakland Oaks were a minor league team in Oakland, California playing in the Pacific Coast League from 1903 through 1955. They won five championships and had several prominent managers, including Casey Stengel, Chuck Dressen, and Mel Ott. Additional Oakland Oaks issues were printed, including one for Signal Gasoline in 1938.
A total of 20 cards are in the set.
