1935 George Burke Detroit Tigers Stamps Overview
Images of famous photographer George Burke were used to create this small team set of stamps featuring the Detroit Tigers.
Measuring only a little larger than 1″ on all four sides, these diminutive stamps aren’t the biggest collectibles around. Each one features a small black and white picture of a player with his name printed into the background, position, and ‘Detroit.’ A total of 24 are included in the set led by Hall of Famers Hank Greenberg and Mickey Cochrane.
Unlike some other stamp issues, these are actually perforated so, when separated, you generally find them with relatively decent edges and not miscut or torn. The stamps were printed in two sheets (12 per sheet).
A larger set of Burke stamps was also produced from 1935-37 featuring players on different teams.
