Rare Signed 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth Available in Fall Auction
Although Babe Ruth’s signature is by no means rare (he probably signed more items than any player in history), it doesn’t mean that anything he signed is common. A perfect example of a extraordinary piece from the REA Fall Catalog Auction: a 1933 R319 Goudey #144 Babe Ruth signed by him on the front – one of just six PSA/DNA examples on the pop report.
Card #144, one of four Ruths in the iconic set, features the Babe in his classic follow-through batting pose and is widely considered to be the quintessential Babe Ruth bubble-gum card. Goudey must have also appreciated the beauty of this card, because of all the cards in the set, this is the one it chose to double print when replacing the missing card #106 (Lajoie) during production. The PSA/DNA graded 7 signature is made even more unique with the “Sincerely Babe Ruth” – an inscription that doubles down on the already incredible scarcity of this masterpiece.
