Honus Wagner T206 PSA 1 Sells for Record Price

Anytime a Honus Wagner T206 card is up for sale it’s notable. One recently was sold and even in low-grade condition, it’s clear that the Wagner is still an incredibly desirable card.
A PSA 1 Wagner recently headlined a Mile High auction and fetched $1,169,875. According to Joe Orlando, that’s the highest amount ever paid for the card in that grade.
More strong prices from the auction world last night. We’ll start with a record price for one of the most iconic cards in the hobby. This @PSAcard Poor 1 1909-11 T206 Honus Wagner card sold for $1,169,875 – a record for the grade: pic.twitter.com/lhF797Ayy2

The card is certainly a low-grade one. But as someone that collects mostly low-grade cards, it presents quite well. There are the creases that you see in most graded 1 cards but they are not excessive. Better yet are that the creases don’t really interfere with the image itself. Overall, you’ve got a really nice picture of Wagner on the card and it could certainly be a lot worse.
The strong price for the iconic card is another indicator that the market is quite strong. Yes, it’s a Wagner and yes, even a somewhat presentable low-grade one. But that is still a very healthy amount that sets a new benchmark for that grade.
