1922 Girls’ Mirror Actors and Actresses Overview

Georges Carpentier 1922 Girls MirrorThese cards were distributed in a UK publication called Girls’ Mirror.

The set is primarily a non-sports set featuring actors and actresses. Of interest to sports collectors is a card of boxing Hall of Famer Georges Carpentier. In addition to boxing, Carpentier also did some acting.

Each one was available for only a week from late July through early October. The following week, a new card was offered.

The cards are black and white and were a supplement with the publication. The cards had relatively thick white borders and the release week for each card is printed at the top. The subject’s name was printed at the bottom and backs of the cards were blank.

Carpentier’s card is generally the most valuable one and starts at around $10-$15. His was one of the earliest ones in the series, issued the week of August 14. His is the only sports card found in the set.

In general, these cards are not seen too frequently. Carpentier’s is a bit easier to find simply because it is worth the most and traded among boxing collectors. But the set is a fairly tough one to assemble just because the other cards are not offered quite as much.
