It is a brief three-card set featuring three boxers of the time. Titled the Famous Boxer set, it is headlined by the legendary Jack Johnson. The cards are also hand cut.

Cards have full color images in front of entirely white backgrounds. The backs number the cards, calling them a part of the Boys’ Friend Picture Gallery. They include a biography of the subject on the front and have an advertisement at the bottom, stating the publication was available every Tuesday for one cent and saying that ‘Parents approve it clean and healthy.’

While this was the first set issued by Boys’ Friend, it would not be the last. The publication would print a larger boxing set in 1922 as well.
