1909 Hammock Series Tennis Postcards Overview

1909 Hammock Series Tennis PostcardThese unique postcards featured color pictures of a man and woman with two main focal points – a hammock and a tennis racket. An artist or lithographer name is not identified on them.

The man, woman, hammock, and tennis racket are in each postcard. The woman is sitting in the hammock in all of them with the man either standing above or sitting with her. Each postcard also includes a phrase about the pair and they are distinctive for gold borders.

Justifiably, the postcards make up what is called the ‘Hammock Series’ on the back. In addition to that title, the number for the set is 207.

Interestingly enough, the postcards are similar to another series issued by the Illustrated Postcard Company of New York. That set also includes a series of images with a man and woman involving a hammock and tennis racket.

While I have personally identified four postcards in this series, more may exist.
