1932 Vittoria Egyptian Cigarettes Sports Series Overview
This rare issue comes to collectors from the Netherlands. They are the product of the Vittoria Egyptian Cigarettes company based in Rotterdam.
The cards include color images of athletes on the front. Backs have their name, sport, and other information that is not in English. The Vittoria Egyptian Cigarettes name is on the back as well, identifying this as one of their releases. Backs also include a card number and the 1932 date, which allows us to date this set.
Like many other international issues, this is a multi-sport set covering many sports, including tennis, boxing, wrestling, track and field, cycling, billiards, cricket, and more.
As an international issue, many of the athletes are unknown to American collectors. The cards are also pretty tough to find here in the U.S. They are not impossible to locate but do not surface too often.
In addition to these cards, Vittoria Egyptian Cigarettes produced other cards as well, including a series of 200 soccer players in 1931-32.
