The 1934 PD9 Ward’s Sporties pins were created by the Ward Baking Company. The pins are small, and red, white, and blue. The set is catalogued as PD9 in the American Card Catalog. It is one of six bakery pin issues classified in the publication with the PD designation.

Pins are approximately 1 1/4″ in diameter.

Each PD9 Ward’s Sporties pin features a small image of a player on the front while the backs are blank. On the front, the player pictures are enclosed in a red circle that reads “Good Sports Enjoy Ward’s Sporties.” The player name is above the picture on the front of the pin and the word ‘Eats’ is printed below it.

The red borders help to distinguish this from other sets. In all four Hall of Famers are featured in the 8-pin set but it is missing notables such as Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
