PD3 Mrs. Sherlock’s Bread Pins Overview
The 1924 PD3 Mrs. Sherlock’s Bread pin set is a small issue both in terms of size and quantity.
With red borders, the pins are relatively small, measuring a little less than a full inch. The set is also a diminutive one consisting of only ten different pins.
As stated on the backs, the pins were produced by the Bastian Brothers Company, a novelties company in Rochester, New York. Fronts include the text, “Mrs. Sherlock’s Home Made Bread” as well as the player picture and then at the bottom, his name and his team name.
It is worth noting that these were not the first baseball pins produced by Mrs. Sherlock’s Bread. The company also created a special set in 1920 and a later one in 1933 for the Toledo Mud Hens minor league team.
