R342 Goudey Thum Movies Overview

The 1937 Goudey Thum Movies set included 13 ‘cards’ featuring flip movie booklets that would depict certain actions when flipped through. The set is designated as R342 in the American Card Catalog.

The fronts featured a cartoon scene of people outside of a movie theater with admission for two cents. At the top was the name of the set, “Thum-Movies”and on a sign in the background was the title of the particular movie for the player in question.

Backs had the player’s name, the number in the set, and a description of the brief movie in the booklet. Bottoms encouraged collectors to collect the whole series and informed them they were a Goudey Gum product.

The company would return to produce another miniature movie set in 1938.
