PC796 Sepia Postcards Overview
The PC796 Sepia postcards set includes various baseball players. Sepia photos are on the fronts and the backs include the area for the sender to write his/her message and the recipient address.
The producer of the cards is anonymous. Player names are printed in large letters on the fronts along with the images. The names can appear either at the top or the bottom.
One interesting typo is on the postcard shown featuring legends Ty Cobb and Honus Wagner. The picture is incredible as it features the pair shaking hands in the 1909 World Series. Wagner’s name was typically spelled either Hans, Johannes, or, most commonly, Honus. However, his name on this card is spelled ‘Honas’ and is clearly a mistake no matter how you look at it. That such a classic card was ruined by such a terrible, high-profile typo is beyond an annoyance.
Still, it remains a great collectible and the rest of the set is incredible. 60% of the cards feature Hall of Fame player. The set is not only packed with stars, but some players, such as Cobb and Wagner, are featured more than once.
