1905 PC782 Rotograph Postcards Overview
The PC782 Rotograph postcards set includes various baseball players from New York. Black and white photos are on the fronts and the backs include the area for the sender to write his/her message and the recipient address. The company was based in New York so the focus on players from that state made sense.
The player images occupy most of the real estate on the front of the postcard and provide some striking imagery. The only text on the fronts is used to identify the player in question as well as his team.
Since all players are New York players, the identification is as a member of the New York American (Highlanders — they would later become the Yankees) or National League (Giants) team.
Rotographs also printed more than just baseball postcards. Around the same time period, the company produced a set of postcards featuring U.S. Presidents as well. They were also involved in some other sports issues and produced a set of college fan/pennant series centered around football.
Number of Cards
To start, there are eight individual postcards of players. However, a team postcard for the New York Giants exists as well. And while it is not confirmed, one is believed to exist for the New York Highlanders, too. As a result, the number of cards considered to be in the set varies among collectors.
Some consider there to be eight in the set, counting only the individual player postcards while considering the Giants team postcard to be separate. Others say nine, counting the eight individual postcards as well as the postcard for the New York Giants. And others still count a total of ten, expecting there to be the Highlanders postcard as well.
Interestingly enough, all of those may be incorrect as there could be more individual postcards that have not yet been discovered.

As the team postcard of the Giants is not always considered to be part of the set, I have not included it here.
