M110 Sporting Life Cabinets Overview
The 1911 M110 Sporting Life Cabinets set included only six cards and was a promotion surrounding the M116 Sporting Life cards. Backs of both cards were nearly identical, serving as an advertisement for the Sporting Life publication.
As cabinet cards, these were significantly larger than the M116 cards. At a little over 5″ x 7″, these are much bigger and outside the scope of what many collectors would consider a true baseball card. The cards include a color photograph with the player’s name on a nameplate at the bottom.
With only six in the set, it seems like a reasonable pursuit. But these are rare items and expensive when you can find them. And since the checklist includes all legitimate stars, that makes it even hard to catch a break if trying to assemble a set. Five of the six players in the set are Hall of Famers and the lone exception, Hal Chase, could have been had it not been for his documented involvement in gambling.
