R309-2 Goudey Premiums Overview
The 1935 R309-2 Goudey Premiums set was offered to collectors as a redemption program for Goudey gum wrappers.
Collectors could receive either a card featuring an individual player or certain teams. The ‘card’ was more like a photograph measuring over 5″ wide and over 9″ tall. Similar to Goudey’s Wide Pen sets, these included the player’s name in a script font. The player’s name shouldn’t be confused with a replica signature. It is merely written in a cursive font.
Lester Bell is often credited as being a part of this set but seemingly remaining unconfirmed, his inclusion sounds like a mistake.
Most of the premiums are pictures of individual players. But one includes a picture of three players and three others show complete teams.
You can see pictures of the photos here.
