W522 Strip Card Overview

W522 34 Gonzales.jpg

The W522 strip card set features color images of players on the fronts along with his name at the bottom. Backs of the cards are completely blank.

The cards are exactly the same as the W520 series but have different card numbers.

That card numbering, by the way, is one of the more interesting things of the set. Cards start at No. 31 so it’s possible these were either part of another set or intended to be.

Even though the set is small, it has a few interesting characteristics. Several spelling errors exist and Hall of Famer Zack Wheat has two cards as does Mike Gonzales.

One of Wheat’s two issues shows him looking like he is about to throw a pitch despite the fact that he was an outfielder. Interestingly enough, it could even be a bit of an error. The pose is eerily similar to that of Harry Coveleski’s card (Harry was a pitcher).

Here are pictures of all of the cards in the set.
