PC770 American League Postcards Overview
The 1908 PC770 American League postcards set includes various baseball players. Black and white photos are on the fronts and the backs include the area for the sender to write his/her message and the recipient address.
The front includes a small portrait picture inside of an oval in the upper left hand corner while a larger action pose is displayed to the right. The bottom includes some player information that you would typically find on the backs of today’s baseball cards. Inside of a rectangle is the player’s name, position, place of birth, and the birth year.
In some cases, the player’s birth year is actual number while others it simply says how long ago he was born (i.e. 25 years ago). Below that biographical information is a short bit of history on the player’s career to date.
The biography and background of the player on these postcards was somewhat unique to the time period.
