Valentine and Sons American Child Studies Postcards Overview
These postcards featured children in various capacities. They included color lithographs on the front along with a title. Fronts also mentioned they were part of the American Child Studies Series.
The backs also indicated they were part of the producer’s (Valentine and Sons, who produced numerous other postcard series) Artotype Series. The pictures on the front were the work of artist C.W. Simpson.
Included in the series is a hockey player. He is a young boy dressed in red, controlling the puck with a stick. Another player is dressed in blue in the background looking on. He is serving as a goaltender in front of a make shift goal created by using a pair of sticks placed in piles of snow on either side of him.
Valentine and Sons American Child Studies Checklist
To date, the only postcards I have seen from this series include a hockey player and an ice skater. More likely exist.
