Raphael Tuck / Earl Christy University Girls and Seals Postcards Overview
This series featured various women serving as fans of college sports teams. Football is the sport generally associated with these types of sets since other fan postcard issues that were similar have pictures of footballs as part of the artwork.
The postcards include a picture of a woman with a pennant for her school sitting atop an oversized image of the school’s seal.
It is also worth noting that a similar design was also used to create another set featuring college girls. However, instead of school seals, pictures of buildings were used instead.
Backs include a simple, traditional postcard layout with a divider line to separate the message from the recipient’s address. The exact date of this series is unknown. However, it is believed to have been printed in the early 1900s.
