Raphael Tuck / Earl Christy College Kings and Queens Postcards Overview
This series featured generic college football players and female college football fans or cheerleaders. There are actually two separate sets here – College Kings and College Queens.
The College Kings set included football players on a playing card. Similar to playing card style, the image is shown twice – once on the top half of a card and once on the bottom. The card is a King with an appropriate suit (clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades) and the artist, Earl Christy, has his name printed beneath each image. Similarly, the College Queens set includes pictures of female fans in the same manner, only on a Queen card.
Backs include a simple, traditional postcard layout with a divider line to separate the message from the recipient’s address.
Produced in Germany, this is an international issue.
