1905 Ullman College Girls Series Postcards Overview
These postcards featured pictures of female fans of a particular college football team.
The pictures are in color and each woman is wearing formal clothing and is shown with a pennant for the school she is representing.
This was one of many such postcard issues in the early 1900s. The postcards were likely designed by Earl Christy (unlike others, however, Christy’s name does not appear on these) and produced by Ullman. The name of the represented school is added twice – both in the background in larger, colored font, and at the bottom of the picture in small type. A card number is also added.
While athletes aren’t depicted on this series, it is no doubt a sports issue since it features fans of various college teams. The sport in question could be up for debate but it is generally considered a football issue since it compares well to other known postcards that depict fans of that sport.
