Earl Christy Platinchrome Postcards Overview
This series featured postcards with either one or a pair of female fans/cheerleaders for a particular football team. The woman or women are standing in a pose to form the letter for their represented school.
Each woman shown is featured in fancy apparel with her school pennant or colors. This general motif was a common theme with other postcards – particularly those done by Earl Christy. Christy is the artist for this series and the set was produced by Platinachrome, based out of New York, as indicated on the fronts of the postcards.
In addition to the pictures, a school cheer is printed on the fronts. That also is a common attribute found in other Christy college series’.
Backs include a simple, traditional postcard layout with a divider line to separate the message from the recipient’s address.
