1932 Notre Dame Football Postcards Overview
Most pre-war football postcard series’ featured generic subjects and often cartoon imagery. This set, however, was developed late enough that it used real pictures of actual football players.
Issued in 1932, these postcards featured members of the Notre Dame varsity football team. The pictures used are black and white images of players against white backdrops. The ‘Notre Dame Varsity’ name is printed at the top as is the year of issue, 1932.
Beneath the player images are his name and position. Backs have standard postcard printing with no text aside from the place for the stamp and the words ‘Post Card’ at the top. A simple divider line is also printed to separate the message from the recipient’s address.
In all, a total of 25 postcards are in the set. One includes the 1932 Notre Dame schedule instead of players.
