1907 Julius Bien / Earl Christy Football College Series Number 95 Postcards Overview
These postcards included pictures of football players and either fans or cheerleaders. A player is pictured along with a woman on each one and they on shown seated on an oversized football. Backs state that they are part of the College Series Number 95.
The pictures are courtesy of artist Earl Christy and the postcards bear his name. The postcard set was produced by the Julius Bien Company. Backs include a simple, traditional postcard layout with a divider line to separate the message from the recipient’s address.
Interestingly, the images in this series were used on other products as well. You can find them on old pillow cases produced around the same time. Pillow cases were actually offered as prizes on a somewhat regular basis in the time period. Often, coupons had to be redeemed for them and they are quite rare these days.
