1938 Anonymous Aviation Strip Cards (R132) Set Overview

This set was distributed in 1938 by an anonymous outfit. However, it appears in the American Card Catalog as ‘Airplanes’ and are cataloged as R132. That designation lists it as a gum card set, even though the cards have perforated edges and appear to be closer to strip cards.

Some of the cards have perforated edges on the sides, though others that have been hand cut may not. Fronts of the cards include color cartoons of famous aircraft and the backs include a card number and brief description. The fronts include a re box with the name of the aircraft printed in black.

A total o 48 cards are printed in the set. However, card numbering does not begin at No. 1. Instead, the cards are numbered beginning with No. 301 and continuing through No. 348.

Also note that errors in the set have been spotted with some card backs appearing with the incorrect picture on the front.

Cards in the set are moderately priced, with most usually selling for only a few dollars each.
