1930s Old Maid Russell Manufacturing Overview
Old Maid is a popular children’s game involving matching pairs of cards. The game has been produced for more than 100 years as its popularity has continued throughout generations.
One older set believed to be have been produced around the 1930s actually included a baseball card. Character ‘Harry Homer’ is pictured batting and waiting for a pitch.
The set also utilized many of the same characters from another set believed to be printed earlier in the 1920s. The interesting thing is that the earlier set included a generic drawing of a baseball player named ‘Bill Homer’ while the one in this set uses a similar pose and is named ‘Harry Homer.’ Why the manufacturer kept many of the other same names but changed this one is unknown.
A total of 23 pairs are in the set along with the Old Maid card.
