John McGraw My Thirty Years in Baseball Promotional Card Overview
In 1923, baseball player and manager John McGraw published a book on his time in the sport of baseball. Entitled, “My Thirty Years in Baseball,” the book details his career in the major leagues.
Along with the book, at some point, a promotional card was printed. The card, shown here, features a black and white picture of McGraw as manager of the New York Giants. McGraw is touted on the front as the author of the book and its publisher, Boni and Liveright, is also mentioned. Cost of the book at the time of its production was $2.00.
At the time of printing, McGraw was still an active manager and he would remain in the game until 1932. He died less than two years later in 1934 at the age of 60.
