1932 Babe Ruth Universal Pictures Pin Overview
Babe Ruth was not only a legendary baseball player, but also an actor in his spare time. Universal Pictures created numerous promotional items featuring Ruth, including a special pin.
The pin features a black and white head shot of Ruth with the name, “Play Ball with Babe Ruth Club” printed along the top. The bottom read, “Christy Walsh All America Sport Reels” and “Universal Pictures” was displayed with one word on each side of his face. The pin was apparently used as part of promoting a series of instructional videos from Ruth, which were released in 1932.
While the picture of Ruth was in black and white, it was against a yellow baseball and the entire pin had a red border.
