1926 Kut Outs Die-Cut Overview
The 1926 Kut Out cards are an interesting issue that feature black and white die-cut cards of players with the New York Yankees and New York Giants.
The cards vary in sizes as they are cut out to match the outline of a player’s shape. The player’s name is printed at the bottom of his image and a folding tab is printed at the very bottom of the entire card. The purpose of the tab isn’t known but these appear to be used to allow the card to stand up on its own or for insertion into another piece, such as a playing field.
A total of ten subjects are included from each team making 20 in the entire set.
How or why these were distributed is still a mystery. And no identifying marks keeps them purely anonymous. Some have compared them to the Middy Die-Cuts but other than that, they are mostly an unknown.
