1930 Ray-O-Print Photo Kits Overview
The 1930 Ray-O-Print photo kits helped introduce the hobby of photography to young collectors.
Each kit contained a photographic negative, a piece of photography paper, and a stand for developing the picture. Collectors could then create their own image using the negative of the celebrity.
Kits were made for baseball stars Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Kits for other non-baseball and non-sports personalities exist as well.
While intriguing, the value on these varies quite a bit. Kits with the original pieces are highly desired. However, buying the prints is a much more risky procedure. Since the original contained a photo negative, new pictures can continually be made today since all that is required is simply more paper. Prints made today from the negative are actually worth very little since there is really an unlimited supply of them.
What has value are the original kits with the negative and the original pictures that were developed on the older paper.
