1935-40 FC7 Canada Starch Crown Brand Photos Overview
From 1935-40, the Canada Starch Crown Brand produced a set of black and white photos. In addition to the player’s image on the front, a replica signature was printed as well. The issue is categorized as FC7 by Jefferson Burdick in the American Card Catalog.
The pictures were initially mounted onto a beige/cream-colored backing but today, many will be found without that as collectors often removed them. Photos still attached to the backing are generally worth a premium.
A total of photos are believed to be in the set but the issue was skip-numbered so the exact number is difficult to confirm. The set features a wide variety of some of the top hockey players of the era.
Measuring at nearly 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″, the photos were slightly larger than postcards. Photos included in the set spotlight both individual players and complete teams.
