1934-38 Diamond Matchbooks Overview

Diamond Matchbook Hockey.jpgA total of several pre-war hockey Diamond Matchbook Cover sets exist consisting of various players:

  • 1934-35 U9 Diamond Matchbooks Silver
  • 1935-36 U10 Diamond Matchbooks (Series 1)
  • 1935-36 U10 Diamond Matchbooks (Series 2)
  • 1935-36 U10 Diamond Matchbooks (Series 3)
  • 1935-36 U10 Diamond Matchbooks (Series 4)
  • 1935-36 U10 Diamond Matchbooks (Series 5)
  • 1937-38 U10 Diamond Matchbooks (Series 6)

All of the matchbook covers have some value regardless of condition. But complete books with the matches unused generally bring a premium. Because these were matchbook covers, they are often heavily worn with creasing, tears, and other flaws.

Fronts of the matchbooks have a picture of a player on one side and the other has a short biography as well as the place to strike the matches.

The silver matchbooks are considered to be U9 issues according to Jefferson Burdick’s American Card Catalog while others are classified as U10.
