Crawford Shoes Trade Cards Overview

These cards were used as advertisements for Crawford Shoes. While no date has been confirmed for them, they are generally viewed as a late 1800s or early 1900s card.

The series is a multi-sport set featuring various activities. The key card in the series, however, is a card depicting the sport of golf. The golf card pictures a player mid-swing while three other players/participants are in the background.

Cards have full color lithographic images on the front as seen in other trade issues. The cards are simplistic looking with the picture and a title of the sport/activity printed at the bottom. The images are inside of a gray/beige border with the word ‘Over’ printed at the bottom, directing the holder to the back. The backs include advertisements for Crawford Shoes. It is unknown if this set was used for any other sponsoring advertiser or solely dedicated to Crawford.

All cards have a vertical layout and measuring at just over 7″ tall, these are slightly oversized to the postcard-sized trade issues often spotted.

Cards from the set are quite rare. The lesser sports cards typically start in the $10-$20 range while the tennis and golf cards command a bit more.
