Monthly Site Updates (April 2019)

Each month, content gets updated on the Pre-War Cards site. However, while you see the regular articles that are posted, plenty of stuff is always being added behind the scenes. Much of this has to do with the updating of set descriptions and checklists in the database and each month, I’ll be posting to alert you to stuff that has been added or updated from the previous month.

Here are the items added/updated from April.

News/Discoveries

Joe Jeannette T218 Champions BoxingBoxing was definitely a big focal point of the site this past month with some new discoveries and a newly-added set from that sport.

The highlight was the discovery of a previously unchecklisted error variant of boxing Hall of Famer Joe Jeannette found in the T218 Champions set. As a widely collected set that has its fair share of master set collectors, I’m surprised that this one went undetected for so many years. Just another example that while these cards have been around for a very long time, we continue to learn more about them as time goes on.

Additionally, I finally wrote about a boxing error card I’d known about for some time. Abe Goldstein has an error card that had not been previously reported in the W512 strip card set.

In between those discoveries, I wrote about the numerous Babe Ruth tobacco cards out there, theorized on a potential 25th card in the T227 Champions set, covered some very bad 1930s clothing related to baseball cards, and served as the authoritative source for Mickey Mouse rookie cards.

In other words, it was a typical month of nonsense around these parts.
