1936 Gallaher Sporting Personalities Set Overview

This was one of several Gallaher tobacco card sets and featured various athletes in a number of sports. The cards were issued by Gallaher, Ltd., a London and Belfast tobacco producer.

While many minor sports (to most Americans, anyway) are featured, boxing is the primary sport that draws the largest amount of interest. A few boxers are found in the set including Len Harvey, Kid Berg, and the Marquis of Douglas and Clydesdale. Other sports featured are cricket, horse racing, track and field, and others

The card feature color images of athletes and the back has a biography about the subject. His/her name is also on the fronts of these white-bordered cards with the Gallaher name on the back.
