Pattreiouex Celebrities Tennis This set included numerous athletes from a variety of sports. The cards were distributed by J.A. Pattreiouex, a tobacco company from Manchester in England.

A total of 50 cards were featured in the set from numerous sports, including golf, tennis, wrestling, and boxing.

Fronts of the cards featured unique colorful images of athletes with an action scene and a headshot. The combination of both of those features makes this a different looking set from others. Backs of the cards included a biography of the player. Cards were likely distributed inside packages of J.A. Pattreioux’s cigarette brands mentioned on the backs, Club Member, Critic, and Trawler.

The pictures at a glance look as if they could be generic. That is especially true because no names are presented on the front. These cards did depict actual athletes, however.

The set includes numerous stars and Hall of Famers but is headlined by golfer Bobby Jones. Other keys to the set include tennis greats Bill Tilden, Betty Nuttall, and Suzanne Lenglen as well as Hall of Fame boxer Gene Tunney.
