Favarger Chocolates Les Sports Set Overview
This stamp set was issued by Favarger Chocolates, a French chocolate company. The exact date of issue is unknown. The company produced numerous sets in the pre-war era, however.
This issue was Series 1 and titled Les Sports (The Sports) and was part of a larger set of 24 total series. All series’ had 12 cards in them for a grand total of 288. The other series’ were not sports issues.
This set included several popular sports, including boxing, golf, tennis, and soccer, among others. One card appears to be a football issue but it instead features rugby. Cards featured colored pictures and had either pale blue or white borders. They were designed to be stuck into an album, which held all 24 series. Each series had its own page in the album.
