1926 and 1928 Greiling Wintersport Series Overview

1928 Greiling Hockey1936 Greiling HockeyThese two sets were produced in 1926 and 1928 by Greiling Cigarettes, a German manufacturer.

Each set was likely part of a larger set and these were dubbed the Wintersport series, a multi-sport release that included a variety of winter sports. At the forefront are some hockey cards which are of most interest to American collectors.

The two sets are similar, but different. Most notably, the 1926 set featured black and white cards while the 1928 release used color images.

In addition to these cards, Greiling produced many other series featuring other sports cards (including 1920s sets featuring boxers and the summer Olympics) and non-sports issues, including actors/actresses into the 1950s.

It is not known how many hockey cards are in the two series’. The 1926 set has at least one card while the 1928 issue has several.
