1912 Trumpf Schokolade Sieger Bleibt Stamps Set Overview

1912 Trumpf Chocolates Tennis StampThis stamp set was issued by German chocolate manufacturer, Trumpf Schokolade. Trumpf issued several stamps issues, but this set is distinguished in part because it is a sports series.

A total of six are in the set and all contain the phrase, sieger bleibt — translated to ‘Winner Remains.’ That phrase was most likely emphasized here because the stamps depict sports.

None of the four major American sports are depicted in the set. The most popular stamp in the set is one that shows a tennis match between a man and a woman.

It is important to note that the stamps were not postage stamps with actual postal value. Instead, these were decorative stamps to be added to packages or used for other purposes. Measuring nearly 2 1/2″ tall, they are also larger than most traditional types of stamps. The stamps all have colorful images with the Trumpf Schokolade name and with white, perforated borders.

Finally, while I have seen mention of this set being dated to 1912, I have not yet been able to confirm that. I have classified this as a stamp issue but it could also be seen as a later candy card set as well.
