Autographed Moe Berg 1933 Goudey Card Brings Over $17,000 At Auction

The Moe Berg card in the popular 1933 Goudey release is one of the more popular cards in the set. It’s not what Berg did on the field that makes this card highly sought after. Rather, it was his career as a U.S. spy that has helped increase interest in the card.
On its own, the Berg 1933 Goudey is already a fascinating card for pre-war collectors. But an autographed one recently surfaced and sold for quite a bit of money.
The autographed 1933 Goudey Berg card was included in a recent Huggins and Scott auction. There, it sold for just over $17,000. Unsigned copies of the card in mid-grade condition generally sell in the $200 – $500 range, depending on condition.
Autographed 1933 Goudey cards aren’t exactly plentiful, but there are a decent number of them out there since many players were still alive into the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Berg himself passed away at the age of 70 in 1972.
