1930 Palmin Tennis and Handball Overview

1930 Palmin Tennis and Handball.jpgThis series was printed for Palmin, a coconut oil product in Germany. Like other Palmin cards, this particular set is really a subset of a massive issue.

This subset is called Tennis and Handball, featuring players from those two sports. If not for the title on the card, two of the handball cards could be mistaken for a variation of soccer. This particular subset was numbered 171.

The entire Palmin issue is mostly a non-sports set. However, this one of the subsets that depict sports.

The cards are printed in color with the Tennis and Handball caption at the bottom. Backs include text and all text on the cards is in German. Cards are somewhat odd as they are printed on a thin stock and have perforated edges.

Today, the cards are somewhat rare in the U.S., though not impossible to find. They are part of one small subset of a larger series created by Palmin that included other subjects.
