1929 Notre Dame Football Postcards Overview

Most pre-war football postcard series’ featured generic subjects and often cartoon imagery. This set, however, was developed late enough that it used real pictures of actual football players.

Issued in 1929, these postcards featured members of the Notre Dame varsity football team. The pictures used are black and white images of players against white backdrops. The player’s name was printed on the front as was a blank scorecard for a particular game as well as the game’s location and date.

Backs of the cards were entirely blank save for the word ‘Postcard’ at the top and a divider line. A photographer or printer is not credited on the cards. These cards are very rare and difficult to find in any condition.
